WORLD CUP O’ CRAP

So the only thing really television worthy this week seemed to be the World Cup. None of the new Summer shows have started yet except for True Blood, Entourage and a handful of HBO shows, so let’s dissect America’s hated past time — SOCCER!

I don’t understand soccer, and I don’t think many people here do…the only people that do are….the rest of the world but damnit, we’re America, we don’t need them. So just about every person has pointed out that much like the Shotput and Downhill Moguls, we get a little present once every 4 years and it’s the World Cup. Suddenly, much like the Olympics, everyone is an expert on soccer and everyone jumps on the bandwagon of Team USA for fear of being called a Communist. So we watch, and this year, we got to watch for a little bit longer into the tournament than in years past because we tied a couple of games and won one. If I am watching something for 90 fucking minutes, it better be over at the end of it. To invest that much time into something that can end in a tie is just a big fucking waste of time. I want to see Ghana compete with us on a level playing field ok? I’m talking war, baseball, American Football, McDonald’s eating marathons ok? Yes, given, Ghana you have us beat in soccer and running from Cheetahs, we will let you have that.

Oh yeah, and now we lost, so NO ONE cares about Soccer again for another 4 years, sorry Landon Donovan, enjoy working part-time at Starbucks.

So aside from  sporting new, Entourage started anew and that’s really the only HBO show I can comment on because I have yet to get into True Blood, I know I need to, I just have yet to. Entourage did come back, pretty lackluster, I think it’s going to be a good season but I know it lost a lot of support in Season 3 and I give it another year tops.

This morning on “The Early Show” they announced the cast of “Big Brother 13” I have yet to explore that so look for details next week on that!
